A new year has arrived and spring is on the horizon. What better time to have area designers point readers to fresh new looks for their homes?

We consulted with designers at both Taylor House Interiors and Pierce & Parker Interiors. This year’s top trends, according to all, are shades of blue and green, metallic – especially brass – accessories, and natural fibers and textures.

Elizabeth Zachry, of Taylor House, provided a guest room that contains many of the elements trending right now, and includes a coastal flair.

The abstract tulip botanical pillows provide a softness and calm to this guest room. The chunky knit throw adds a cozy element in an otherwise neutral palette. The rug anchors the room and creates warmth. The cool blues and rope texture of the mirror is a nod to the room’s coastal theme, and the seagulls add a touch of whimsy.

The sea glass wallpaper in this bathroom is refreshing. This stunning mirror of hand laid mother of pearl is the jewel of this room. The mirror is also accented by the oil-rubbed bronze fixtures. The coral sculpture brings the inspiration of the sea into this space.

In the coastal south, blues, greens, teals and aquas will always be a timeless color palette. These colors are always a welcomed addition to your home. They can provide calm and relaxation or feel fun and lively.

Accessories and lighting fixtures can add a pop of color in an otherwise neutral room. This lamp is a perfect example of some of the rich emerald greens that are coming onto the scene. Its contemporary geometric pattern is both cosmopolitan and charming.

I’m so excited because we are seeing so much color right now! Greens are coming into spring in such a big way. I’m loving all of the hues of green on cabinets, consoles and buffets – so fresh! – Elizabeth Zachry, designer

At Pierce and Parker Interiors, the design team has chosen multiple fresh looks to inspire anyone who’s looking to update, upgrade or completely make over a space, whether it’s one room or a whole house.

One of the best ways to achieve a beautiful outdoor oasis in 2022 is mimicking your indoor space. By adding stylish and durable outdoor furniture such as fully upholstered sofas, refined tables, rugs, and décor, the line between indoors and out all but disappears. – Carson Jones, designer

Traditional accents such as chinoiserie wallpapers will always be a hit, especially this year. As it works throughout your home, it adds a sophisticated element and it’s the definition of timeless elegance. It can be very rich and bold in texture and color or more subtle, natural, and fresh. – Julie Willis, designer

Brown tones are coming back in 2022 as a warm neutral to bring in the nature indoors. Various shades such as caramel and tan are showing up in leathers, cowhides, bamboo shades, root coffee tables, and driftwood consoles. – Brenda Regan, designer

The return of gold finishes is so great! I love the brushed gold tones in bath fixtures, hardware, lighting, and décor! – Lori Harden, designer

In 2022, the many hues of green such as Kelly green, chartreuse or a pop of lime will be supreme in design. Whether it’s paint, pillows, or window treatments, incorporating these colors will be sure to give your home a refresh and such a fun alternative to blue! – Ashley Fassnacht, design assistant
